Description
You can’t even reach this canyon without four-wheel drive, it’s so remote. It’s also pretty short; the run’s only ten miles long, but it's ten miles run between limestone cliffs that are almost as tall as Santa Elena’s walls (these climb up to 1,400 feet). The rapids aren’t too intense or frequent, running from Class II to III, depending on how high the water is. Thus, this can be a good canyon for simply enjoying the scenery.
The put-in is at Talley, a tiny point along the border, but the put-out at Solis can be easy to miss. You might want to drive by Solis before you take to the water, just so you're sure you know what it looks like - the next put out is a long ways downriver.
